“Roses & Leaves” – Senegalese Design Label Sophie Zinga presents its Spring/Summer 2014 Collection

Let’s take a look at some fabulous Senegalese fashion! From fashion designer Sophie Nzinga Sy, we present the Spring/Summer 2014 collection from Sophie Zinga  - “Roses & Leaves“

Born in Senegal, Sophie developed her talent in fashion while attending Parsons School of Design in New York, and has been gracing the catwalks of Paris, South Africa, New York and other fashion weeks. She finds inspiration for her collections from African fabrics, her roots, travel, her love for multiple cultures and uses African techniques to create them.

For this collection, Sophie was inspired by the ornate delicacy and velvet texture of the rose flower with Malian tie-dye techniques using dual coloring, carefully applied on delicate French alencon lace. She also used a broad array of textures, enhanced by pleating on crinkled silk chiffon, sateen cotton and silk faille fabrics.
