AFI took a
different turn this year when Mercedes Benz Africa Fashion Week was
turned into a conference as opposed to a compilation of runway shows.
The reason for this was to seek the best strategic solution for the
delivery of the 2016 edition of AFI Africa Fashion Week.
The event
not only marks the official start to AFI’s fashion calendar, but
welcomes the new showcase of AFI Fastrack™ talent who ultimately vie for
the much coveted title of AFI Young Designer of the Year at the end of
2016. While the designer schedule is yet to be released, its common
knowledge that the city pulsates with fashion design talent who take to
runway with creativity, innovation and fashion that outdoes prior
collections shown.
AFI
would also like to announce the provisional dates for Mercedes-Benz
Fashion Week Cape Town 2016 which is planned from the 28 – 30 July 2016.
2015 took the runway event to a new location adding to the event
experience and saw new talent showcase for the first time. AFI is
planning for another high paced event that will leave the Mother City
and the industry elated.
